Rowing on Caldecotte Lake

2017 Regatta

2016 was a momentous year for the Milton Keynes Regatta. For the first time since being established in 2010, the regatta was run as an Open event, fully affiliated to British Rowing.

This meant a lot of changes, including having official British Rowing umpires and officials, and extending the invite to all rowing clubs. Against this, we were determined to maintain the friendly, relaxed atmosphere that makes our event so popular.

From the feedback we’ve had, we appear to have succeeded, with nice compliments from some of our new visitors as well as our old, established friends. The scale of the event was much bigger, with some eleven visiting clubs giving us a racing programme of 97 races over a full day. This included a full range of events, from singles to eights, juniors to Masters and again saw the very popular Primary events for newcomers to the sport.

Following on from the success of the event, we are please to announce the date for this year's regatta. This will be on Saturday 23rd September. The event is popular so we suggest getting entries in early when they open on BROE!

The regatta consists of two lane racing over a straight 500 meter course from a stake-boat start. We will be offering a wide range of events in all categories, covering rowing and sculling, Junior, Senior and Masters events. Following their success at last year's Regatta, we will again be running Primary events for newcomers to the sport, with our and visiting clubs' Development Squads taking part. For many of these rowers, this will be their first ever competitive race, so do come along to cheer them on.
