Just after BRIC last year, our very own Heidi Towse was asked to join a team of ladies aged 40-49 to try and beat the Concept 2 World Record for the fastest 100km time. In the team are one lady from Estonia (current 100k solo record holder), four ladies from Ireland and the rest from the UK. Two (including Heidi) are "real" rowers the others are "gym bunnies" and ergo record holders. The challenge is this Saturday, and the aim is to do it in 5:33.20. To do that they have to hold a split of 1:40 for 175m at rate 45. They’ll be ‘Dropping’ n ‘Rolling’ (taking their turn) 46 times each, starting at 10 o’clock and hoping to be done 5 ½ hours later…
Take a look at her training programme and prepare to be impressed! She did her last 40 x 100m last night hitting an average split of 1:37.4. Impressive stuf!!
MKRC are so proud of you Heidi, and we wish you all luck for Saturday!
