What a wonderful celebration we had today for the occasion of the ‘Grand Opening’ of the Boathouse and new training area, one which I will remember for a very long time. I know many of you were away on your hols or had other engagements and were not able to be there, but it was difficult to find a day around our busy racing calendar, so apologies to those who didn’t make it but wanted to!

We had some of the most influential supporters of sport in MK and our business sponsors as our guests, and it was a great opportunity to showcase our new facilities and the amazing work we do to make MKRC the Club it is. David Foster, the Chief Executive of the Parks Trust gave a great speech and officially opened the Boathouse and I urge you to click on the link below to watch the video and listen to what he says about us as a club and we should all be hugely proud of what we have achieved. It’s 11 minutes long and at the end of my speech, so if you want to fast me forward, I won’t mind!

I cannot thank those who have been part of this hugely ambitious project enough, at any point along the way from 2013 to the helpers at the event today. A little bit more to do on the racking for private boats and the flooring and mirrors in the new indoor training area and it will be absolutely complete and we can look towards the future with our focus on the rowing and having fun, rather than all the hard work we have been doing over the last 6 years!

Here's the video, sorry it's just phone quality:

We did it!
