Everyone who went is very grateful to Ian for organising almost everything, and to the trailer party (Rob, Paula, Ian and Karen/Kate) for towing our boats the whole way across Europe for us! Here's a summary of the results
Wednesday
Some great racing in Bled already and we're only one day in! A good race from Ian in his A1x, a great win from Karen and Paula in a composite WE8+ with York and Leicester, and a close second from our women's C4+ of Heidi, Louise, Jayne and Catherine. We rounded it all off by enjoying the awesome opening ceremony this evening.
Thursday
Getting a bit wet and windy here in Bled, but that didn't stop Helen getting a smashing second in her C1x. She was after gold but wasn't too disappointed as she had a good race and was beaten by someone twice her size! Also today our women's D4+ of Heidi, Lou, Karen and Paula gained another second place, and there were good races too from the WC8+ and Callum and David having a go in an A2-.
Friday
Day 3 draws to a close with an awesome 2nd place from Helen and Jenny in their B2x, with a much faster row than yesterday by the ladies in their 8+ (WD8+ this time) and good performances by the men's A4+ and women's C4x. Tomorrow will be our busiest day yet!
Saturday
Day 4 was a blast! Brilliant rows by the WE4+ of Karen, Paula, Helen and Suzanne (coxed by Becky) and again by Helen and Jenny in their WC2x saw two more really close second places to add to our impressive haul of nearly-medals. Great rows also from Tim G in his B1x, Steve B and Ian in a C2x, Steve B (again!) and Tim B in an E2x, Tim G and Benn in their favourite B2-, and a pleasingly fast and controlled row from the men's A8+. This was all despite some very choppy conditions! We finished it off with the Royal Reception at the castle overlooking the lake.
Sunday
So day 5 was a bit wet... but all our mixed crews got out and had enjoyable rows to round off a great trip - we can't wait for the next one!
Thanks
Chris
