We had some more great results at Head of the Trent today. Conditions were tough in places with a headwind creating choppy water, but both crews handled it well, got good results, and gained valuable experience together in just the sort of conditions they can expect on the tideway in a few weeks time.

Winners: WMasB/C 8+
: Karen, Paula, Alice, Jayne, Jo, Kate, Helen S, Katharine, cox: Chris, 1/3, 22:00.0
This was a crew full of experience and they set off with purpose, gradually reeling in Peterborough ahead of them and calmly pulling past them around halfway through. In the last part of the race conditions got even choppier, but as you'd expect from a crew of their calibre they never panicked or let it get scrappy, keeping a good rhythm all the way to the end. They won their category by a comfortable margin even without their handicap, and they also beat the three crews in the D/E category even with handicap adjustments. A really good result that bodes well for Vets Head and for WEHORR too.

Op 8+ (Band 4): John S, James, Charlie, Shaun, Rich, Paul, Callum, Aidan, cox: Andy, 2/7, 19:21.6
Our men's crew doesn't have as much experience yet as our ladies, but they do have a lot of commitment, a lot of power, and loads of potential. They were second in their race, just 7 seconds off winning, and they still have lots of improvements they can make to go faster. They know they are faster than a lot of the crews starting around them at HORR, and with the experience of today's conditions they should be looking for a really excellent result.
