A great finish to the Winter Season for MK with the three crews racing on the Thames showing the rest of the rowing community what a fantastic club we now have here in Milton Keynes. Three excellent results which we can all be proud of. Many thanks to Mike Povey for stepping in a the last minute to tow the trailer for the Men to HORR and back. Also thanks to all those who came to support us at both events and to Rob Heywood for his excellent photos!

HORR

Open Club 8+

Placed 165th overall out of 311 crews and 75th in Club Crews Time: 20.11.6

John Charlie Shaun plus Liam Jon Clive Tom Nick cox Niamh

First off was the Men's composite crew racing as MK in the premier event for Men's eights against the top Club, Uni, College and Schools crews in the country. They had a good race in perfect conditions and almost matched their time from last year. Having trained hard over the winter but only had 3 outings together in the eight they were pleased with the result and are ready to build on this for the future.

W Mas D 8+

2nd in W MasD 8+ Placed 12th out of 65 Women's eights

Time:22.43.10

Karen Paula Jo Jayne HelenS Katherine Heidi Lou cox ChrisW

The Women had another great race but could not quite match the composite crew from Marlow/Cantabs. On Sunday the conditions were difficult with an Easterly wind creating a lot of rough water at the beginning and end of the race making it over a minute longer than last year! However we coped well (probably due to our experience handling the conditions on Caldecotte Lake!) It was amazing to power past 4 other crews too with some great coxing from Chris.

Mix MasD 4x

2nd in category out of 6 Mixed quads. Time 23.11.94

The MasD Mixed Quad also had a good race with some excellent steering from SteveL and were very unlucky to be pipped to first place by only 0.3 seconds by a composite crew from Bewl Bridge/Tideway Scullers. A brilliant result for them! Hopefully we will see more of this crew racing in the summer.
