Hello everyone
I just wanted to share with you all the success one of our new members has had recently at the World Rowing Indoor Championships which took place virtually on Friday 25th February.
Carol Alker joined us last summer on our LTR course and is now a Development Member rowing with us on a Saturday and on the Tuesday Recreational sessions. However, she has also travelled all over the world to compete several times at the World Rowing Indoor Championships. This year she competed in the Master's 60+ Lightweight Women 500m and came 5th overall. In her own words, " I achieved a time of 1:57.4, not a pb, but my second fastest 500m, so not too bad."
An amazing achievement I'm sure you will agree and an inspiration to all of us!
This year the competition was a virtual competition for the second year running. It should have taken place in Hamburg.
Carol explained that making sure all the IT connections were in place with the ID checks and weighing in virtually ( as Carol competes as a Lightweight ) presented additional challenges this year!
However, next year Carol hopes that it will be back to normal competition in Toronto.
Well done Carol from all of us at MKRC!
