Rowing on Caldecotte Lake Following the success of previous years' Milton Keynes Rowing Club Regattas, we are pleased to announce we will be holding it again in 2020. This year's event will take place on Saturday 19th September on the picturesque Caldecotte Lake. As with previous years' events, this will be an open event, run under British Rowing rules of racing.

This year again we will have three lane racing, over a straight 500 meter course from a stake-boat start. We will be offering a wide range of events in all categories, covering rowing and sculling, Junior, Senior and Masters events. Following their success at last year's Regatta, we will again be running Primary events for newcomers to the sport, with our and visiting clubs' Development Squads taking part. For many of these rowers, this will be their first ever competitive race, so do come along to cheer them on.

Parking

Please note that there is limited trailer parking at MKRC and as such the Regatta Committee reserves the right to close entries early if the maximum number of

Spectators

Unlike many events, spectators can see the entire course from our club house, which makes for excellent viewing of the day's racing. We will be running an all day barbecue (serving bacon rolls from 08:00), hot and cold drinks and there is the legendary MKRC Cake stall too!

Directions

Getting around Milton Keynes

OK, it's true, there are a lot of roundabouts in Milton Keynes. There's one at pretty much every intersection of the main roads, which are laid out on a grid system. The good part is that the north-south roads are all labelled as V-roads (vertical) and the east-west ones as H-roads (horizontal); this makes getting around fairly easy if you know the H- and V- numbers you want. These are shown in the instructions below. If you find yourself getting lost, check the H- and V- number of the road you are on at the next roundabout (don't worry, there'll be one soon) and you can work out where to go. H- roads increase in number as you go south and V-roads run from left to right. Milton Keynes Rowing Club is in between H10 and V10 so if you are on H8 head south and if on V2 head east!

Directions from M1 Southbound

Exit the M1 at Junction 14 and at the roundabout at the top of the slip road, take the third exit towards Milton Keynes. Keep to the left-hand side of the road and at the lights at the next roundabout go straight on, towards Central Milton Keynes. At the next roundabout, with a petrol station on the left, turn left onto Tongwell Street (V11) and continue down here going straight over the next three roundabouts before turning right at the fourth, onto Bletcham Way (H10). At the next roundabout, turn left onto Brickhill Street (V10) and then right at the next one, into Caldecotte Lake Drive. A short way down here, turn right at the roundabout onto Monellan Grove. For cars, please turn into Copperhouse Court to park. For trailers, go past Copperhouse Court and just past the speed bump there is an opening on the left, into Milton Keynes Rowing Club

Directions from M1 Northbound

Exit the M1 at Junction 13 and at the roundabout at the top of the slip road, take the second exit towards Milton Keynes. This road runs parallel to the M1. Go straight over the first three roundabouts. At the fourth, which has traffic lights on it, get into the leftmost lane and take the second exit onto Groveway (H9). At the next roundabout, turn left onto Tongwell Street (V11) and continue down here before turning right at the first roundabout, onto Bletcham Way (H10).

Directions from A5 Northbound

As you come down the hill into Milton Keynes on the A5 dual carriageway, move over to the right. At the roundabout, which is light controlled, take the fourth exit, signposted towards Bedford A421. Follow the road and at the first mini-roundabout go straight on, towards the level crossing. Go over the level crossing and turn left at the first roundabout into Caldecotte Lake Drive. A short way down here, turn right at the roundabout onto Monellan Grove. For cars, please turn into Copperhouse Court to park. For trailers, go past Copperhouse Court and just past the speed bump there is an opening on the left, into Milton Keynes Rowing Club

Directions from A5 Southbound

Continue along the A5 south until you go past the Odeon iMax off to the right. Take the next exit, signposted "Milton Keynes South and East" and at the end of the down ramp, turn left at the roundabout onto Bletcham Way (H10). Continue along here, crossing Caldecotte Lake and ignoring the signs on the right to the Watersports Centre. At the next roundabout, turn right onto Brickhill Street (V10) and then right at the next one, into Caldecotte Lake Drive. A short way down here, turn right at the roundabout onto Monellan Grove. For cars, please turn into Copperhouse Court to park. For trailers, go past Copperhouse Court and just past the speed bump there is an opening on the left, into Milton Keynes Rowing Club.

If you miss the exit from the A5, continue to the next, large, light controlled roundabout and take the first left, signposted towards Bedford A421.

Sat Nav and Google Maps

The closest postcode for the club is MK7 8BH and we are on Monellan Grove in Caldecotte, Milton Keynes. If using Google Maps, there is a link at the bottom of this page or search for Milton Keynes Rowing Club.

If you are towing a trailer and following a Sat Nav please ignore any instruction that takes you from Bletcham Way (H10) to turn right just after the bridge over Caldecotte Lake (ignore the signs on the right to the Watersports Centre) and continue to the next roundabout to turn right there. This avoids going through a narrow, winding housing estate!

2019 Regatta update

A huge thank you from all at MKRC to all our visitors, for making this year's regatta so successful. As with last year, we included a full range of events, from singles to eights, juniors to Masters and again saw the very popular Primary events for newcomers to the sport. Despite this, we were determined to maintain the friendly, relaxed atmosphere that makes our event so popular.

From the feedback we’ve had, we appear to have succeeded, with nice compliments from some of our new visitors as well as our old, established friends. We look forward to seeing you all again at next year's event. We are still finding our feet in running an affiliated event, so any feedback is very welcome to allow us to develop the event for future years.
